PROGRESS REPORT

I have been attempting to solve an Apple file portability problem for several months.

Specifically, the many input source files are text files with a variety of file extents (for example, *.pmk).  The apple text editors, when used to prepare or edit these files, occasionally inserted illegal characters which it did not display on the screen.

The solution to this problem was to originally prepare the file as a text file (extent .txt), make a copy of this file and change the extent of the copied file. When the file needs to be edited, edit the original text file,  copy this file, and change the extent of the copied file.
