Common Class Routine Libraries

I began developing the software parts for the commonclassroutine library.
The need for a _BASIC_STRUCT_ALIAS_EXITS routine for
verifying the uniqueness of the Routine Name occurred.

Common Class Struct Library

A _BASIC_STRUCT_ALIAS_EXISTS software part was added to the commonclassstruct
library and thoroughly tested.

Common Class Struct Library

The include file and basiccommonclassstruct library have been prepared. It will be
tested when this library is used to test the commonclassroutine library

Blog Alerts May Become Annoying

June 8, 2018

Placing a request to be alerted when I make a post is not the best way to keep track of my activity.

I have made a lot of posts. Some of them are research reports which are individually written with the aid of my Programmable Software Development Tool. Others such as the seminars have been written some time ago and are periodically posted on my blog. Frequently, I will make as many as three posts on a single day.

As a consequence, you are going to get a lot of alerts which may become annoying to you.

Please may I suggest a better way of keeping track of my activities.

I recommend that you follow me on Twitter (@whatifwe2048). You will see that my tweets are the titles of my blog posts in the order of occurrence. You can then easily select the ones that you wish to read,

This approach will give you greater control over your internet traffic.

CODEPLEX SHUTDOWN.

May 5, 2018

For many years, I have used the Microsoft Codeplex site for my Programable
Software Development Environment project from which my current tools
could be downloaded.

Microsoft was shut down CodePlex in month of December and will no longer
be able to contain updated versions of my tools in October. There may
be another site which will replace CodePlex.

You can always my current Software Development tools from my website,

Life of A Programmer — Session 1.3 — Are You A Software Engineer?

March 27, 2018

I used to know a software engineer who did not just “do it” at work.

He had significant personal accounting difficulties.

He occasionally would use hexadecimal numbers on the checks that he wrote.

Most assuredly, software engineering defined him as a person.

So I will again repeat my question. Are you a software engineer?

Limitation to My Response to Your Comments

March 10, 2018

Every day I receive between 50 and 100 comments. Many of these comments request information or advise from me.

I appreciate the honor of your request for information.

Unfortunately, there is only one of me managing and writing the blog. Consequently, I simply do not have enough time to reply to each of your questions.

There are many comments that ask the same question. In these situations where I have the information, I will provide my knowledge in a post, time permitting.

I will respond to any comment made by a person who is experimenting with my software development tools.

Thank You

1987 IMACS European Congress In Prague. Czechoslovakia

February 20, 2018

In 1987, I presented my second article on my personally
funded research at the IMACS European Congress In Prague.
Czechoslovakia. I performed my computer simulations on
my personal Heathkit H89 computer.

I have attached a scanned copy of this five page article to
this post. Prague was communist at that time and it amazed
the attendees that I could perform my research on my own
time and money. I took vacation time to attend the conference.

Please may I remind you that companies and organizations do
not make discoveries and inventions; Individuals do. May I
encourage you to turn off the TV set and work on your own
personal research project.

WhatifWe127 — My Internet Interface

February 18, 2018

Hopefully, this post will answer many of the questions that I have received about the Internet services that I am receiving.

First, please understand that I do not have a team. There is one of me and I am home based.

My Internet service is provided by Earthlink.

Recently I changed from DSL to a cable Internet communication process due to a major regional outage.

My blog is provided by the free WordPress site which may or may not add some advertising.

I also have a whatifwe Codeplex site and and a @whatifwe2048 Twitter site.

I designed my Website using Microsoft Front Page.

I have successfully accessed my web-site and blog on a LINUX, WINDOWS, and MAC machine.

PROGRAMMERS ARE SPECIAL QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGERS!

Requiring our programmers to be special Quality Managers? This would be a terrible inconvenience?

On one of my contracts, I had the opportunity to witness an attempt to become ISO-9001 certified.

There were two ISO-9001 certification meetings; the first with the software manager and the second with QA.

The software manager had no idea as to what his group could do to be compliant with ISO-9001.

The QA manager described the increased formality required to be compliant with ISO-9001.

The body language of my client’s employees told me that no one except management wanted ISO-9001 certification.

One of the requirements of ISO-9001 is the use of “Standard Processes and Methods”.

The use of “Standard Processes and Methods” means that management would control our programming efforts.

Would you believe it I told you that programmers are already using “Standard Processes and Methods”?

No I don’t! As long as I do my job, management leaves me alone. They create more problems than they solve.

Then would you believe it I told you that programmers create their own “Standard Processes and Methods”.

No? How many times have you prepared a new source file by modifying an old previously developed source file?

Your collection of sources files defines your “Standard Methods and Processes” that you use.

Will this help you to develop error-free software? Reflect on your experience. It already has.

WHATIFWE were to make a conscious Quality Assurance Effort? Will it help? Try it, sees what happens.
