Open Source Software Development Tool: Upgrade Progress

June 17, 2013

It is planned to upgrade the Programmable Software Development Environment to include the capability of reading the paste-in text files where the each paragraph is one very long line.  You may need to download the latest version of the Programmable Software Development Environment to fully understand my reports.

The ability to read the paste-in text file is needed to certify that the file has not been changed, was developed using the agree-upon standard libraries, or has not been illegally copied.

MONDAY: 2013/06/17

STATUS: The _READ_SEGMENT and _WRITE_SEGMENT commands in the precoper source files and associated header files for the new Windows machine have been prepared and compiled.

DETAIL: A little over a month ago, my Windows XP machine died. A great deal of effort was required to restore my activity on the new Windows 7 machine.  My Visual Studio.net was no longer usable on the new machine; hence, I downloaded a  the open source development system “Open Watcom” and used it to re-establish my Windows development activities.

NEXT TASK: The next task will be to examine the options relative to completing a task before an output line has been completed (No CRLF).

Computer Disastor Recovery — Progress Report

June 16, 2013

An updated  debug version of the Programmable Software Development  Environment is now functional.  The Open Watcom debugger appeared to be some-what limited, but it did help with the correction of errors in the new prime number generator.  The other error were found by my aggressive error detection software.

I attempted to install the Open Watcom software on my Linux machine.  I was unsuccessful.  Probably something that I should know but didn’t.In as much a I have a working development system on the Linux machine (the debugger is terrible but usable) I will discontinue the Open Watcom Linux installation process at this time.

I plan to restart upgrading the Programmable Software Development Environment to include the reading of very long lines.  This development process was halted when the Window’s machine died.  I will publish this system as a new version once this upgrade has been made and tested.

My next major recovery effort is to find and install a portable web-site development program.  I need to eliminate the need for Front Page.

Computer Disaster Recovery — Progress Report

June 14, 2013

Progress is still being made.

The redevelopment of the Programmable Software Development Environment (see website) using Open Watcom continues.  I have completed rebuilding all of the source files up to and including “precoper”.  The acid test will be the use of the Open Watcom debugger.

The next major recovery task will be to find a free, portable web-site development system
