STATUS: The software parts for the common data type library (typedef) has been started and the first definition level has been prepared.

DETAIL: Currently, there are two definition levels. The first one loads language specific keyword such as float which will then be used to prepare commaon aliases. The second level defines these aliases and places the pertainent data in a postoffice.

NEXT TASK: The next step will be to start preparing the second level parts.

Developing a Website using a software parts library

May 15, 2015

The activity associated with development of a software parts library for the development of a web-site will be presented here. This will be an extension of the library used to prepare Programmable Software Development Environment manual.

This effort was started a long time ago following the development of the manual software parts library. Its purpose was to eliminate the need for Front Page. It was subsequently put on hold so that other more important efforts could proceed.

Mr. Mike is a long time professional friend of mine who has recently offered to reconstruct my Web-Site. I told him my plan to use my tool to rebuild my site. He has had difficulties relating to my technology (It is quite different than normal programming methods) and I am not really skilled in Web-site design. We both felt that this might a great opportunity to make the technical connection.

STATUS: The CSS Software Parts for the headers have been tentatively selected.

DETAIL: The following five parts are being considered: _WEBSITE_HEADER_SIZE (Relative Font Siz), _WEBSITE_HEADER_COLOR (Font Color), _WEBSITE_HEADER_LEFT (Left Aligned Text), _WEBSITE_HEADER_CENTER (Center Aligned Text) and _WEBSITE_HEADER_RIGHT (Right Aligned Text). Each Header will be assigned an unique group.

MY NEXT TASK: My next task will be to start developing the Header Software Parts Library. Again, a common library will be used for both the CSS and HTML development tasks.

STATUS: I have examined my backlog files and found that the next major task would be the software parts that define headers.

DETAIL: My development philosophy uses a set of visual groups to define a web-site. Each group has a header or title. In most of the groups, the header is followed by content in some form.

MY NEXT TASK: My next task will be to define the software parts needed to define the headers. A sub-library containing the parts for both the CSS and HTML development tasks is planned.

STATUS: Now that the Programmable Software Development Environment error has been corrected, this project will be restarted

DETAIL: A Programmable Software Development Environment system error was encountered while attempting to redefine the CSS software parts library from a set of small software parts libraries. This redefinition process will greatly improve the capability of thoroughly testing the resulting product.

RESULTS: The software parts files containing only the _INCLUDE commands, needed for this redefinition process, are now usable in all software parts library versions (experimental, alpha, beta, and release).

MY NEXT TASK: My next task is to develop a names management and communication library and integrate it into both the CSS and HTML software parts libraries.

STATUS: The modifications to CSS Software Parts needed to use the new
CSS Output Library have been made and functionally tested

RESULTS: The execution speed of the resultant CSS Library has been
greatly improved. For reasons not known at this time, the Linux version
of the Programmable Software Development Environment is much faster
than the Windows version.

MY NEXT TASK: This subtask is now completed. The backlogged tasks of
the Web-site development project will be examined and a plan will be
made.

STATUS: The CSS output software parts has been modified and is ready
for test.

DETAIL: The use of the script library has been eliminated. Some minor
modifications of the CSS Software parts library will be required.

NEXT TASK: The next task will be to make the needed modifications to
the CSS Output software test task. Once this is done, the CSS Output
Library can be properly tested and made ready for use.

TUESDAY: 2015/01/06

STATUS: The slow behavior of the CSS Software Parts Library is not
acceptable. Providing a trace display will not truely solve the problem.

DETAIL: The script library is capable functioning in a great deal of
circumstances; hence, there is a considerable amount of excessing
processing baggage. It will probably be necessary to add a set of
script instructions to the Programmable Software Development
Environment at a future time.

RESULTS: The use of the script software parts library must be
eliminated.

MY NEXT TASK: My next task will be to start the modifications to the
CSS output software parts library required to eliminate the use of the
script software parts library.

STATUS: The cause of the referenced error statement has been discovered
and a tentative solution has been found.

MR_MIKE_CONTRIBUTION:

DETAIL: When I upgraded the Programmable Software Development
Environment for the four versions (Experimental, Alpha, Beta, and
Release versions}, I did not consider the Include file. I was not
using these files at that time. The Include file is functional in the
Experimental version.

RESULTS: The slowness of the script software parts library has created
serious questions regarding the proper operation of the Programmable
Software Development Environment. The CSS Output software parts library
needs to be modified to prepare a visual output file generation
progress report.

NEXT TASK: The next task will be to make the needed modifications to
the CSS Output software parts library.
