Developing a Website using a software parts library

May 24, 2014

The activity associated with development of a software parts library
for the development of a web-site will be presented here. This will be
an extension of the library used to prepare Programmable Software
Development Environment manual.

This effort was started a long time ago following the development of
the manual software parts library. Its purpose was to eliminate the
need for Front Page. It was subsequently put on hold so that other
more important efforts could proceed.

Mr. Mike is a long time professional friend of mine who has recently
offered to reconstruct my Web-Site. I told him my plan to use my tool
to rebuild my site. He has had difficulties relating to my technology
(It is quite different than normal programming methods) and I am not
really skilled in Web-site design. We both felt that this might a great
opportunity to make the technical connection.

FRIDAY: 2014/05/23

STATUS: The Integration of the HTML name management system into the
Whole Page HTML software parts has been successfully completed.

NEXT TASK: The informal check-out development method being presently
used will be upgraded to a formal test method. I have found a method
of adapted the test methodology provided by a test task to provide for
a visual inspection of the product web-site.

WEDNESDAY: 2014/01/08

STATUS: I have prepared the five CSS parts for the padding definition.  These parts are _WEBSITE_STYLE_SCREEN_PADDING_BEGIN, _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_SCREEN_PRINT, _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_END, _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_LEFT_RIGHT, and _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_TOP_BOTTOM.  I have renamed _WEBSITE_STYLE_SCREEN_PRINT to  _WEBSITE_STYLE_MARGIN_SCREEN_PRINT for consistency

DETAIL: The margin commands are defined as follows: 1) _WEBSITE_STYLE_SCREEN_PADDING_BEGIN starts the Padding specification, 2) _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_SCREEN_PRINT completes the Screen padding and starts the Printer padding, 3) _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_END completes the padding definition. 4) _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_LEFT_RIGHT defines the left and right edges of the padding, and 5) _WEBSITE_STYLE_PADDING_TOP_BOTTOM defines the top and bottom edges of the padding.

MY NEXT TASK: The next task will be to make the Border definition commands.

Development of Basic Text Write/Certification Utility Libraries

November 12, 2013

The effort associated with the development, upgrading and testing the
basic output software parts library will be documented here. If there
is anyone who desires to assist me in this development process, please
contact me by e-mail.

TUESDAY: 2013/11/12

STATUS: This library is being used in a number of applications include
web-site development and preparation of documents in both a printable
and internet pasteable format. While preparing one of these documents,
I encountered an error that appears to be associated with the
Programmable Software Development Environment.

DETAIL: The specific error was that a $ followed by a number, s dollar
value was erroneously considered by the Programmable Software
Development Environment _WRITE_SEGMENT Command as a parameter.  This
has not happened before when I was using the_ LOAD_BUFFER and
APPEND_BUFFER commands while writing the same files.

NEXT TASK:  I will examine the _WRITE_SEGMENT command of the
Programmable Software Development Environment and report my findings in
blog associated with its update.

SATURDAY: 2013/10/05

STATUS: I have prepared a sufficient number of software parts that I
can now prepare a effort.

MR_MIKE_CONTRIBUTION: Mr. Mike’s contribution have given me a starting
point from which I can prepare my beginning software parts development
effort.

DETAIL: I have started with a experimental file that only displays the
title along the top of the web-site display program (Firefox, Internet
Explorer).

RESULTS: The files that have been prepared are as follows:
_WEBSITE_SCREEN_STYLE_FILE, _WEBSITE_PRINT_STYLE_FILE,
_WEBSITE_HTML_PAGE_FILE, _WEBSITE_STYLE_BEGIN, _WEBSITE_STYLE_END,
_WEBSITE_HTML_BEGIN, _WEBSITE_HTML_END.

NEXT TASK: The next task will be to prepare the associated library.

STATUS: The development of the software parts required for the web-site
development kit library has been started.

MR_MIKE_CONTRIBUTION: Mr. Mike has prepared most of my web-site pages.

DETAIL: Three software parts have been prepared. _WEBSITE_CSS_CONSTRUCT
and _WEBSITE_HTML_CONSTRUCT initializes writing / certifying process
for the associated files. _WEBSITE_DESTROY resets the system for the
next sub-task.

MY NEXT TASK: The development of the software parts associated with the
preparation of the .css files will be developed first. Currently, I
plan to write both the screen and print related files in the same
sub-task.

SATURDAY: 2013/09/28

STATUS: With the help of Mr. Mike, I have began to make a software
parts development plan.

MR_MIKE_CONTRIBUTION: Mr. Mike has helped me to find a base of
information from which I have been able to answer many of my questions.

DETAIL: One of the fundamental rules of this technology is to minimize
the amount of data that needs to be entered to build the web-site. for
example, the web site (www.whatifwe.com) and author’s name appear in
the <head> sections for each of the web-site pages.  In the software
parts library used to development the .html Programmable Software
Development Environment manual, there is set of parts that load these
common elements into a dictionary for use at a later time.

NEXT TASK: The development of the software parts needed to load the
common elements into a dictionary will be started. The *.html code
needed to prepare web page <head> section will be prepared. The common
data for all of the web-pages will be included. Only the title will
need to be entered when preparing the individual pages.

STATUS: The basic HTML Output Software Parts library has been developed
and functionally tested.

DETAIL: The Library is ready for experimentally used as long as the
length of each output line is less than 256 bytes and a script is not
required. The required additional capabilities will be added if and
when necessary.

MY NEXT TASK: The development of the equivalent software parts library
for the CSS file will be the next task.

FRIDAY: 2013/09/13

STATUS: The file setup software parts, _HTML_OUT_BEGIN_SETUP,
_HTML_OUT_ADD_FILE, and _HTML_OUT_END_SETUP have been preliminarily
prepared.  I have asked Mr. Mike to add some informative comments into
his web-site code.

DETAIL: The random generator seed is modified by the file Alias name
and extent. Every time that a file is entered, a sequence of random
numbers are generated. These random numbers, the file Alias and extent
are used to re-seed the generator.  In this manner, resultant random
generator will be uniquely defined from the sequence of
_HTML_OUT_ADD_FILE commands.

NEXT TASK: The preparation of the _HTML_OUT_LINE will be prepared next.
